East Carteret strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Lejeune Devil Pups. The result was nothing new for the Mariners, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Eli Jenkins was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jacob Grimm was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Jenkins wasn't the only one working in the hit department: East Carteret kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

East Carteret's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lejeune, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

East Carteret has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Northside - Pinetown on the 1st. As for Lejeune, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-1 defeat against Northside - Jacksonville on the 31st.
