Football Recap: Nathan Watters' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Estero over Cape Coral

Estero dropped down to 3-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cape Coral Seahawks. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 39-7 to the Seahawks when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathan Watters, who rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and one score. Estero also got help from Kegan Kreuscher, who showed off his sure hands for 159 receiving yards.

As for Cape Coral, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.6 points on average this season.

It was another big night for Jermain Skinner, who rushed for 153 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Hooker, who threw for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Estero will take on Cypress Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Cape Coral, they will square off against Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fightin' Tarpons' defense has only allowed 13.8 points per game this season, so the Seahawks' offense will have their work cut out for them.
