Volleyball Recap: Mt. Zion Braves vs. Effingham Hearts
Mt. Zion was the 2-1 winner over Effingham when they last played one another on September 4th, but their luck changed this time around. The Braves fell just short of the Hearts by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Mt. Zion started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-18, 25-13.
Effingham can attribute much of their success to Averie Wolfe, who had 12 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Wolfe has posted since back in August.
Mt. Zion's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Effingham, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mt. Zion will square off against rival Charleston at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Effingham is set to challenge their familiar foe Taylorville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
