Softball Recap: Wauseon Indians vs. Rossford Bulldogs
Wauseon extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 9-13. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rossford Bulldogs. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 10-9 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Rossford, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.
For Rossford's part, Lucy Rodriguez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Rodriguez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Aria Prater was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Aubree Knudsen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Looking ahead, Wauseon will be playing at home against Delta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Rossford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
