Volleyball Recap: Five Straight Road Wins for Lake Zurich

Grayslake Central typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Lake Zurich proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Rams 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won three in a row.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Lake Zurich got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-22, 22-25, 25-21.

Yani Oblakov was the offensive standout of the matchup as he had 16 assists and ten digs. Those ten digs gave him a new career-high.

Lake Zurich pushed their record up to 31-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Grayslake Central, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 26-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Zurich will host Stevenson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grayslake Central, they will be playing at home against Mundelein at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
