Softball Recap: Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos vs. Blue Ridge Knights
Cerro Gordo/Bement extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-13 in the process. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Ridge Knights. The Broncos were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Sierra Personette was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season. Madelyn Sommers was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Blue Ridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games.
On Blue Ridge's side, Ellie Schlieper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Schlieper has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Addison Roos was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carsyn Stiger, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Coming up, Cerro Gordo/Bement will challenge Fisher at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Blue Ridge, they will be playing at home against Okaw Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
