Softball Recap: Hickory Takes a Loss

Hickory lost against East Lincoln back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hickory Red Tornadoes came up short against the East Lincoln Mustangs, falling 14-4. The Red Tornadoes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Alyssa Wood was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and 11 unearned) runs off nine hits. Wood was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Wood wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Layla Abernathy, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Hickory now has a losing record of 1-2. As for East Lincoln, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Hickory has already played their next game, a 13-2 defeat against East Lincoln on the 14th. As for East Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-6 loss against Central Cabarrus on the 13th.
