Baseball Recap: Antelope Valley Antelopes vs. Quartz Hill Royals
Antelope Valley had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-14 to make it 15. They lost 20-0 to the Quartz Hill Royals. The Antelopes were not able to make up for their loss to the Royals from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Antelope Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Glover, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
As for Quartz Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.
On Quartz Hill's side, Christopher Lozano looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). The Royals are undefeated when Lozano allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-10 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Quartz Hill got a massive performance out of Evan Tepper, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Tepper a new career-high in hits (two). Blake Johnson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Quartz Hill beat Antelope Valley by a score of 14-0 on Friday.
