Basketball Recap: Manchester Greyhounds vs. Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs

If Manchester was feeling good fresh off their 58-19 takedown of Western last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Manchester Greyhounds came up short against the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs on Thursday, falling 54-32. The Greyhounds lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 75-10 score last time.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lynchburg-Clay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joslyn Rockey, who posted nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Those six steals gave Rockey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Waits, who put up 11 points.

Manchester's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Lynchburg-Clay, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.

Manchester will venture away from home to face off against Fayetteville-Perry at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Fayetteville-Perry will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Manchester surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lynchburg-Clay, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-36 victory against Clinton-Massie on the 11th.
