Jack Britt stuns Terry Sanford on a pass from a running back.
The play is called "Patriot" and just like the Patriots who fought in the Revolutionary War, it was a winner.
Jack Britt (Fayetteville, N.C.) edged
Terry Sanford (Fayetteville, N.C.) Friday on a 65-yard halfback option pass to stun the visitors, 21-14. It was simple, but obviously effective.
Alphonzo Williams took the sweep play to his left, then stopped course and launched a long pass slightly diagonally to find a streaking
Jacob Ritter for the game-winning touchdown with 12 seconds left. Britt was down seven points with less than two minutes left,
according to highschoolot.com, so the halfback option pass was the cherry on top of the late-game rally.
It was Ritter's only catch of the game.
"They trusted me to throw the ball,'' Williams told the website. "I saw the safety come down and it was wide open. I wanted to get the touchdown myself, but I had to get it out there.''
