Lara has experience working with current Mater Dei president Mike Brennan during his time at St. Anthony and as an assistant at Servite (Anaheim, Calif.).

The Monarchs have finished in the top three of the national rankings in each of the past six seasons.

McManus led Mater Dei to a 13-1 record and third Open Division state championship since 2017 last season.

Prior to that, Bruce Rollinson served as the head coach since 1989 and led Mater Dei to a 341-87-2 record. The Monarchs went wire-to-wire as the No. 1 team in the country in 2017 and 2021.
