After flying high against Coral Academy of Science - Reno last Saturday, Battle Mountain came back down to earth. The Battle Mountain Longhorns took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Wendover Wolverines on Thursday. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August.

Battle Mountain actually scored more points across those four sets (96-92), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 25-21, 26-24, 28-26.

Battle Mountain's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jazmin Johnson, who had 11 digs and 18 assists, and Addison Matheus, who had 11 kills, five aces, and a block. Matheus has been hot recently, having posted five or more kills the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Moore, who had 14 digs.

Even though they lost, Battle Mountain was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive contests.

Battle Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for West Wendover, their record is now 8-21.

After both having extra time off, Battle Mountain and Incline will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. West Wendover does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
