Softball Recap: South Granville Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

South Granville put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Carrboro Jaguars. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Ayden Koonce was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Wilson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

South Granville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .682. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carrboro only posted an OBP of .182.

South Granville's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Carrboro, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-5.

Looking ahead, South Granville will take on Southern School of Energy and Sustainability at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Carrboro, they will face off against J.F. Webb at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight.
