Baseball Recap: Gulf Shores Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Gulf Shores and Spanish Fort, and Gulf Shores kept the tradition alive. The Dolphins were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Toros on Saturday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 10-0 win on Saturday.

Tres Moore and Price Stephens did most of the damage at the plate: Moore scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Stephens scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, Moore posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Jacob O'Bryan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Gulf Shores kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

Gulf Shores pushed their record up to 17-12-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Spanish Fort, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gulf Shores will face off against Baker at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Dolphins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Spanish Fort, they will host Mary G. Montgomery at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
