Preview: Greene County Wildcats vs. Columbia Wildcats
The Greene County Wildcats will square off against the Columbia Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Greene County rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past Raymond 28-8. The win made it back-to-back wins for Greene County.
It was another big night for Coby King, who rushed for 48 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Columbia put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 43-28 victory over Morton. Given Columbia's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Morton is ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Greene County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for Columbia, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
Greene County was dealt a bruising 49-21 loss at the hands of Columbia in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can Greene County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
