The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Wolverines are ranked 111th).

Having lost for the first time this season, Amherst Central fell to 7-1. As for Niagara Falls, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
