Soccer Game Preview: North Buncombe vs. Smoky Mountain

The North Buncombe Black Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Smoky Mountain Mustangs at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

North Buncombe is headed out to face Smoky Mountain after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Black Hawks put the hurt on Swain County with a sharp 7-1 victory on Monday. Cristobal Drago was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Smoky Mountain had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. Their defense stepped up to hand Murphy a 1-0 shutout.

North Buncombe beat Smoky Mountain by a goal in their previous matchup back in August of 2024, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Black Hawks since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
