Basketball Recap: Central of Coosa County Takes a Loss

Central of Coosa County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost to the Horseshoe Bend Generals at home by a 53-35 margin. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-42 last Monday.

When it comes to explaining why Central of Coosa County lost, don't look at Queen Ballard. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 20 boards. Ballard is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 20 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Imiya Reese, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Central of Coosa County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.

Central of Coosa County's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Horseshoe Bend, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record.

Central of Coosa County will challenge Winterboro at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Horseshoe Bend has already played their next contest (against Vincent), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
