Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Richland). They put the hurt on the Denton Broncos with a sharp 17-3 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Royals considering their two-run performance the match before.

Carlos Guerrero looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Riley Wood was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Carter Alderson, who scored five runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Richland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Denton only posted an OBP of .417.

Richland's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-8-1. As for Denton, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-8-2.

Richland will have a chance to go back-to-back against Denton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
