Volleyball Recap: Maranatha Christian's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Maranatha Christian had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Christian on Tuesday. The Eagles blew past the Patriots 3-0. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Maranatha Christian never let Christian on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-16, 26-24.

Carter 'CJ' Hays paced Maranatha Christian's offense, picking up 15 kills. Hays got some help from Jackson Ostrowski and his 28 assists. Alec Scherpbier controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

When it comes to explaining why Christian lost, don't look at McKade Mathson. Despite the final result, he had 19 digs and five assists. Mathson has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Trae Pheasant, who had nine assists and seven digs.

Maranatha Christian pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.

Maranatha Christian will host High Tech CV at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Christian, they will welcome Mount Miguel at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
