Recap: Muskogee Roughers vs. Ponca City Wildcats
There's no place like home for the Muskogee Roughers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They escaped with a win on Tuesday against Ponca City by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49. The score was all tied up 22-22 at the break, but Muskogee was the better team in the second half.
Malaysia Burton was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with five assists and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Muskogee's points. D'mya Brown was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six assists and three steals.
Muskogee's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Ponca City, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Muskogee will face off against Broken Arrow at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Broken Arrow will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Ponca City, they will head out on the road to challenge Bixby at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bixby presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ponca City in Oklahoma (Bixby is ranked 38th, while Ponca City is ranked 267th).
