Basketball Game Preview: Bushland Falcons vs. Shallowater Mustangs

The Bushland Falcons will challenge the Shallowater Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Bushland is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since January 11th on Friday. They came up short against Dalhart, falling 56-34. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while the Wolves are ranked 151st).

Meanwhile, Shallowater entered their tilt with Idalou on Tuesday with 17 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 18. They took down the Wildcats 38-22. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly 16 points.

Shallowater pushed their record up to 25-8 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points over those games. As for Bushland, their loss dropped their record down to 18-14.

Bushland came up short against Shallowater when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 33-29. Can Bushland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
