Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Minutemen vs. Liberty Christian Bulldogs

Liberty has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Liberty Christian has won six straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Liberty Minutemen will welcome the Liberty Christian Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Liberty has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 196 points over their last three matches.

Liberty picked up another tournament win two weeks ago. They blew past Patrick County 64-30. The Minutemen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Shania Brown, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 22 boards. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Moriah Tate, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Liberty Christian strolled past Rustburg with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 44-28. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Red Devils are ranked 181st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Liberty Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Liberty was dealt a bruising 73-32 defeat at the hands of Liberty Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Liberty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
