Football Recap: Aurora East Comes Up Short

Aurora East fell victim to Elgin and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Maroons and fell 49-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, the Tomcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Elgin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lamarin Powell led the charge by rushing for 72 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries, while also picking up 36 receiving yards and one score. Jacob Rufino was another key signal caller, throwing for 190 yards and a pair of TDs on only 16 passes.

Aurora East is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for Elgin, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
