Softball Game Preview: Ardmore Tigers vs. Oak Mountain Eagles

The Ardmore Tigers will face off against the Oak Mountain Eagles at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ardmore's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over Dothan.

Meanwhile, Oak Mountain got the win against Dothan on Friday by a conclusive 7-1.

Kelsey Crain looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Oak Mountain let Addison Green and Sheridan Andrews run wild. Green went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Andrews got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs Andrews has posted over her last 14 contests.

Oak Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-16 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Ardmore, their victory bumped their record up to 22-15-1.

Ardmore suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Oak Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
