Baseball Recap: Stanton Takes a Loss

After flying high against Raines last Wednesday, Stanton came back down to earth. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Eagle's View Warriors by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2020.

Jose Figueroa made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Stanton is 5-1 when Figueroa posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dan Exline, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Stanton has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Eagle's View, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-11 record.

Coming up, Stanton is taking a road trip to square off against Menendez at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Blue Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eagle's View, they will welcome St. Edward's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
