Softball Game Preview: Fraser Ramblers vs. Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils

Fraser and Grosse Pointe South are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Ramblers will challenge the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fraser had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt L'Anse Creuse on Thursday. The Ramblers blew past the Lancers 10-2. The Ramblers' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Gabrielle Gajewski made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Gajewski was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jazlyn Wooten, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Peyton Mckernan was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Grosse Pointe South took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Hazel Park a 10-0 shutout.

Fraser's record is now 3-0. As for Grosse Pointe South, their record now sits at 1-0.

Fraser couldn't quite finish off Grosse Pointe South in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Ramblers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
