Baseball Game Preview: Porter-Gaud Cyclones vs. Academic Magnet Raptors

The Porter-Gaud Cyclones will head out on the road to take on the Academic Magnet Raptors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Porter-Gaud blew St. John's out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday St. John's got their revenge. Porter-Gaud fell just short of St. John's by a score of 4-2. The loss was the Cyclones' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Academic Magnet suffered their closest loss since March 11, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Andrews by a score of 4-2.

Academic Magnet saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Heckman Tyler, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, Porter-Gaud fell to 2-1. As for Academic Magnet, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Porter-Gaud came up short against Academic Magnet when the teams last played back in March of 2022, falling 11-8. Can Porter-Gaud avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
