Football Recap: Spackenkill Comes Up Short Despite Wayne-Daniel Russell's Big Defensive Game

After flying high against Liberty last Friday, Spackenkill came back down to earth. The Spartans fell 36-27 to the Rondout Valley Ganders on Thursday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ganders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Even if they lost, Spackenkill's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Wayne-Daniel Russell was especially locked on to Rondout Valley's QB and sacked him twice. Russell has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last six times he's played.

Spackenkill's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Rondout Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.

As of now, neither Spackenkill nor the Ganders have any future games scheduled.
