Volleyball Recap: North Andover Scarlet Knights vs. Chelmsford Lions
North Andover lost against Chelmsford two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Scarlet Knights came up short against the Lions, falling 3-0. Scarlet Knights fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Lions since on Monday.
North Andover was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Chelmsford work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-17, 25-21.
Malik Hassan paced North Andover's offense, picking up nine kills. Hassan got some help from Carson Wong and his 25 assists. Hassan was also a major player on defense: he and Brett Keyo shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.
Chelmsford can attribute much of their success to Ryan Heng, who had 12 digs and three assists. Heng has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times he's played.
This is the second loss in a row for North Andover and nudges their season record down to 8-10. As for Chelmsford, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-3.
Looking ahead, North Andover will challenge Andover at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chelmsford, they will face off against Westford Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
