Baseball Recap: DuBois Comes Up Short

DuBois extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 9-4 in the process. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers. The matchup marked the Beavers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

DuBois got a good showing from Alex Sago, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sago has become a key player for the Beavers: the team is 8-2 when he allows at most two hits, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, DuBois saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madix Clark, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Mason Dinkfelt also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Hollidaysburg, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games.

On Hollidaysburg's side, Vince Boland tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Boland has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brady Steiner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples and two runs. Another player making a difference was Tanner Rossman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, DuBois will welcome Indiana at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hollidaysburg, they will head out to face off against Richland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.82 runs per game on average), something the Golden Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
