Preview: Keystone Wildcats vs. Oberlin The Phoenix
Keystone is 10-0 against Oberlin since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Keystone Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Oberlin The Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Keystone has five straight victories, Oberlin has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Keystone has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 27 points or more this season. They really took it to Northwestern for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-27 win at home. Given Keystone's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Northwestern is ranked 261st), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Keystone to victory, but perhaps none more so than Vivian Cassell, who scored 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Cassell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Jessica Forthofer was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Oberlin came up short against Open Door Christian on Saturday and fell 22-13. Oberlin has not had much luck with Open Door Christian recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Their wins bumped Keystone to 5-0 and Northwestern to 2-2.
Everything came up roses for Keystone against Oberlin when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 69-26 victory. Will Keystone repeat their success, or does Oberlin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
