The Sage Hill Lightning will face off against the Polytechnic Panthers at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sage Hill is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Calvary Chapel a 15-0 shutout. The Lightning haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Griffin Robinson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Robinson was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Jad Rigley looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Sage Hill let Evan Stroner and Justin Glasser run wild. Stroner went 3-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs, while Glasser went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits Stroner has posted since back in February of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Hsu, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Polytechnic was able to grind out a solid victory over Eisenhower on Saturday, taking the game 8-5.
Like Sage Hill, Polytechnic also got a great game from a two-way player: Elijah Ip. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Ip was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caiden Kennedy, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alex Chui, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
