Basketball Recap: Nick Sauer-Jones Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Varsity Opponent

Johnsburg Central hadn't done well against Varsity Opponent recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Everything went the Johnsburg Central Jaguars' way against Varsity Opponent as the Johnsburg Central Jaguars made off with a 46-26 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Jaguars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Johnsburg Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Sauer-Jones led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Sauer-Jones is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Liam McKinney was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Johnsburg Central's win bumped their record up to 7-8.

Johnsburg Central will challenge Indian Lake Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Varsity Opponent, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 80-44 defeat against Cumberland Christian Home Educators on the 4th.
