Lovington faced Dexter in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Demons by a score of 3-1. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Sabrie Sanchez spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Lovington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anahie Quiroga, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 11-5. As for Dexter, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.

Coming up, Lovington will be playing at home against Roswell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Dexter, they will head out to take on Portales at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
