Soccer Game Preview: Windham vs. Waterford

The Windham Whippets will challenge the Waterford Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Windham has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Windham lost 5-2 to Ledyard on Friday. While losing is never fun, Windham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut soccer rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Ledyard are ranked 22nd).

Meanwhile, Waterford waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Whalers get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Waterford were the better team in the second half.

This is the second loss in a row for Windham and nudges their season record down to 2-6-1. As for Waterford, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Windham came out on top in a nail-biter against Waterford in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Whippets repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
