Baseball Game Preview: Century Centurions vs. Estancia Eagles

The Century Centurions are taking a road trip to challenge the Estancia Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Century is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

While Century's victory against Orange wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Century had just enough and edged out Orange 2-0.

Meanwhile, Estancia fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Costa Mesa on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Estancia got a good showing from Lincoln Silva, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Silva has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Estancia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Humphries, who went 2-for-5 with one triple. Jacob Ramirez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Century pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Estancia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Century might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Estancia in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Century avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
