Recap: Laguna Creek Cardinals vs. Kennedy Cougars

The Laguna Creek Cardinals entered their tilt with the Kennedy Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Laguna Creek took down Kennedy 68-53 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Laguna Creek, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Laguna Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Smith, who scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Adaarion "AD" Strauthers, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds and two blocks.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aharon Young, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Eric Lopez was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.

Laguna Creek is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Kennedy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-9.

Laguna Creek will be playing in front of their home fans against Grant at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Grant's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games. As for Kennedy, they will head out on the road to square off against Burbank at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Burbank knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 contests -- so hopefully Kennedy likes a good challenge.
