Baseball Recap: Pomeroy Takes a Loss

Pomeroy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Garfield-Palouse Vikings. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Nolan Newberg put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Newberg was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cesar Morphin was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4. Jett Slusser was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-5.

Pomeroy's record is now 0-3. As for Garfield-Palouse, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-1-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pomeroy beat Garfield-Palouse by a score of 10-3 later that day.
