Baseball Game Preview: Riverton Silverwolves vs. Herriman Mustangs

For the second straight game, Riverton will face off against Herriman. The Silverwolves will head out on the road to challenge the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Riverton has four straight wins, Herriman has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Riverton barely beat Herriman the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Silverwolves never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Wednesday. The Silverwolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

McKay Linford looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nolan Pezely, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaige Woods, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Riverton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Herriman only posted an OBP of .125.

Riverton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Herriman, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
