Softball Recap: Derry Comes Up Short

If Derry was feeling good fresh off their 18-2 takedown of Highlands last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans fell 9-5 to the Greensburg Salem Golden Lions on Friday. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Golden Lions earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Derry has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Greensburg Salem, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Derry will welcome Indiana at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Little Indians have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Greensburg Salem, they will challenge Freeport at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Lions are facing the Yellowjackets at the right time seeing as the Yellowjackets are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
