The Las Lomas Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Las Lomas lost 17-7 to Acalanes on Thursday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Dons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Kylie Liberman and Angelina Cagiga did some serious damage despite the final result: Liberman went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Cagiga went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Bamford, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Las Lomas lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Foothill on Tuesday, but Foothill came as close as anyone has to beating them. Bishop O'Dowd came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Foothill. The three-run effort marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The team relied heavily on Jaella Mercado, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tulip Barnes, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Bishop O'Dowd's record now sits at 5-0. As for Las Lomas, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Las Lomas hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Bishop O'Dowd struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Las Lomas came up short against Bishop O'Dowd in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 10-7. Can Las Lomas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
