The Lockland Panthers will head out to take on the Cincinnati Christian Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lockland has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lockland is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Roger Bacon on Tuesday. They lost 12-0 to the Spartans. The game marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cincinnati Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on New Miami with a sharp 21-8 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven contests by 13 runs or more so far this season.
Jalyn Cole made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cole was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last five games she's played.
In other batting news, Cincinnati Christian got a massive performance out of Maya Miller, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Miller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Starks, who went 2-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Cincinnati Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Miami only managed seven.
Lockland's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Cincinnati Christian, their record now sits at 7-5.
Lockland might still be hurting after the 17-4 defeat they got from Cincinnati Christian in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
