Basketball Recap: Arleta Comes Up Short

If Arleta was feeling good fresh off their 69-47 takedown of Gardena on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Arleta Mustangs took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Simi Valley Pioneers.

Simi Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Joaquin Aleman out in front who posted 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Dale, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds.

Arleta's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Simi Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arleta will challenge Verdugo Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Arleta's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 matchups. As for Simi Valley, they will take on Oak Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Simi Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season.
