Softball Recap: Liberty Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia, Liberty was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Hamilton Titans by a score of 9-4. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 17-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Shea Ionson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andi Mixer, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Ionson wasn't the only one making solid contact: Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Liberty's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Hamilton, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Coming up, Liberty will take on Carrollton in a tournament on Friday. Hamilton will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' match: after the Eagles faces off against Illini West, they'll take on Hamilton again at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
