Baseball Recap: Bountiful RedHawks vs. Woods Cross Wildcats
Bountiful extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 11-13 in the process. They came up short against the Woods Cross Wildcats, falling 10-0. The RedHawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Bountiful saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyson Burningham, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Woods Cross, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.
On Woods Cross' side, not much got past Coleman Burbidge, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Bountiful off the board. Burbidge has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Woods Cross let Camden Olsen and Max Moffat run wild. Olsen went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Moffat went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Moffat a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Beau Blackwell, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one double.
While Bountiful had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
