Baseball Game Preview: Pomona Panthers vs. Conifer Lobos

The Pomona Panthers will take on the Conifer Lobos at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Pomona fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Green Mountain on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost six in a row.

Pomona saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Werner, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Conifer beat Littleton 7-4 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Lobos in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won eight in a row.

Casey Rummell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aiden Scanlon was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Luke Adams was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Conifer's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Pomona, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pomona has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Conifer struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
