Volleyball Recap: Walton Raiders vs. Blessed Trinity Titans
Blessed Trinity typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Walton proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Titans 2-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2019.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Walton who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 20-25, 15-10.
Simone Searles paced Walton's offense, picking up 13 kills. Searles got some help from Janie Myers and her 25 assists. Maya McCoy controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Despite the loss, Blessed Trinity had strong showings from Ruby McDermott, who had ten digs and one assist, and Felicia Torrico, who had six digs and two aces.
Walton's record now sits at 19-6. As for Blessed Trinity, they moved to 30-10 with that defeat, which also ended their four-match winning streak.
Walton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Marist on the 27th. As for Blessed Trinity, they will challenge Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
