Basketball Recap: South Dade Beats Homestead for Their Third Straight Win

Homestead came into Friday's game looking for another win against South Dade, but Rodney Holmes wouldn't allow it. The Buccaneers enjoyed a cozy 75-56 victory over the Broncos on Friday with plenty of help from Holmes, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 16.5 points per game.

Jeremiah Carter was another key player, shooting 46% from the field en route to 16 points and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Homestead lost, don't look at Kaleb Lebrun. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points. Bergiton Etienne also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

The win (which was South Dade's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points over those games. As for Homestead, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. South Dade will challenge Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Homestead, they will take on Coral Park at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
