Recap: Santa Fe Raiders vs. Newberry Panthers
The Santa Fe Raiders suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Newberry, falling 91-41. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Santa Fe in their matchups with Newberry: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Santa Fe saw an underclassman step up: Haleigh Richburgh scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Chohan, who scored six points.
Santa Fe has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Newberry, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Fe will face off against Eastside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newberry won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Williston at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Williston and Newberry are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
